I would buy it again

By Chris

from Toms River, NJ

About Me:

Pros: Cost, Great for a basement

Cons: Rough on your hands. Get work gloves

Best Uses: Basement

Comments about Tranquility 5mm Golden Teak Click Resilient Vinyl: I installed roughly 1000 sq feet of this flooring. Overall it was easy to work with. Easier than some laminate I have installed many years ago. It was nothing I had ever thought known about until visiting Lumber Liquidators and discussing my need for flooring for the basement. Love the way it looks and feels.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Good product for the price

By Len NYC

from New York City

About Me:

Pros: Reasonable price, Relatively easy to install

Cons: Rough on your hands. Get work gloves

Best Uses: Basement

Comments about Tranquility 5mm Golden Teak Click Resilient Vinyl: I can't comment on durability because I've only just laid this down - 1 month, so far - but so far, still looks great - real wood-like, really - and has shown no wear. The planks are just under 1/4 inch thick with the top wear layer perhaps about 1/32. This product was installed in the living/family room (NYC apt) foyer and hallways over a 50 yr old tile floor. The floor was in good condition needing only minor repairs for leveling.

The product is pretty easy to install once one gets the hang of it. I recommend purchasing a laminate/vinyl installation kit that contains a metal pull bar, tapping block and spacers (at least 50 of those) for about $20 - $25 and a rubber tapping mallet - oh, and don't forget a quality utility knife and a supply of extra blades (to retain blade sharpness). In addition, buy a pair of work gloves as this product can wear the hands down after handling those edges. I had a t-square handy already and, of course a long ruler and tape measure. A couple of additional costs: the trim - use the recommended teak because it really looks great - and the LVT underlayment (100 s ft per roll). These added costs are worth the investment.

With care and following installation instructions and recommendations, you should have not trouble - also, use the internet for installation tips before starting the project.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Looks good, simple to lay out

By Dauby

from Virginia Beach

About Me:

Pros: Reasonable price, Relatively easy to install

Cons: Rough on your hands. Get work gloves

Best Uses: Basement

Comments about Tranquility 5mm Golden Teak Click Resilient Vinyl: Plan on removing baseboard or using quarter-round when done. So far, even complex cuts are easy (I use a skill saw). I'm using a good carpet razor with 4 edges per blade, snaps right on razor line. Looks great, actually better once you get a room-full layed. VERY BUSY design. Approx 1 in 6 repeat, but they are also run in REVERSE so it's easier to keep from having two planks with the same design next to one another.

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Looks nice, but what a pain!

By saxxy27

from Tallahassee, FL

About Me:

Pros: Inexpensive, looks nice

Cons: Difficult to Install

Best Uses: Bathroom, Dining Room, Hall, Kitchen, Living Room

Comments about Tranquility 5mm Golden Teak Click Resilient Vinyl: This flooring, while lovely to look at once finished, is a gigantic pain in the butt (and knees!) to install. It clicks into place on one half of the tile and clicks out on the other half. You have to get the angle just right (about 45 degrees) to lock the edges. We eventually figured out that if you place full boxes along the line of flooring you just put down, it's easier to click the next row into place. All in all, it's taking three of us -- one person with a lot of flooring installation experience -- at least two full weekends to install this flooring in our living room and tiny kitchen, which are approximately 800 sq ft. There were some difficult cuts that held up our progress, but even just the straight runs are quite time consuming. Another issue we're facing is the transition to other flooring types. We have ceramic tile in front of our corner fire place. We have a compound miter saw, so the 45 degree end cuts are easy, but since this is vinyl flooring, it's a good bit lower than the tile. Although we installed edge-leveling transition strips, I think they look oddly out of place in that location (looks fine with the same transition strips positioned under the doors where the vinyl tile meets carpet in the bedrooms). We may pull the transition strips back up in favor of caulking where the vinyl tiles and ceramic tiles meet, but I'm not sure if that will work, either. If you have other flooring types that you plan to install this next to, you may want to consider an underlayment that will raise the height of these tiles.

I'm still giving it three stars because it does look pretty great now that we are almost finished, but I would not recommend this flooring type. Lumber Liquidators has a LOT of other affordable options that I would definitely consider over this. We actually planned to purchase wood-look tile, but the salesman talked us into this flooring instead because we were a little uncertain on the ceramic tile installation. I now regret it.

Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Q: I just purchased TRQ Golden Teak 5mm click from your store in Depere WI before I install it will it work in a sun room or will it buckle? you recently told me to use a tile product. but we don't like the look of tile
Asked on 2/15/2016 by Martin

A: Vinyl is subject to expansion caused by excess heat (not moisture) depending on how warm the floor may get, it could expand enough to cause buckling.
Storage area and Job site should be climate-controlled with temperatures of 65°F-75°F.
For best performance, maintain room temperature of 55°F- 95°F. ideally 65°F-75°F. Excess cold or heat can affect tightness of floor seams.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight for prolonged periods; this can result in tile discoloration. Excessive temperatures might cause tile expansion or edge curling. During peak sunlight hours, the use of drapes or blinds is recommended especially on patio doors, etc., that receive intense sunlight.
