Comments about Tranquility  5mm Golden Teak Click Resilient Vinyl Handscraped: It really was (almost) as easy to install as they said it would be. Having never installed flooring before I had a bit of a learning curve. But it turned out beautifully! Next time around I have no doubt the effort will go more quickly. My new hobby? Flooring installation...

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Tranquility  5mm Golden Teak Click Resilient Vinyl Handscraped: I'm a 40 something female and I installed this floor myself. Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy. Not bad to cut. It looks fantastic! I have 2 dogs and they haven't scratched it up. I also moved the fridge and stove over it and it didn't scratch or gouge or anything. Looks like a real wood floor! Can't get better than that. I put it in my mudroom and kitchen in a 1920 farmhouse. Looks much like the original floors.

Comments about Tranquility  5mm Golden Teak Click Resilient Vinyl Handscraped: Relatively easy to install, instructions could have been more helpful. When installing, some of the planks didn't fully seat, tried to tap in with the palm of my hand (brutal to the hand), leaned about half way through the project to use a cut plank to insert then tap the plank to fully seated.

BUY THIS FLOOR!

By The Fixer

from The Villages FL

About Me:

Cons:

Comments about Tranquility  5mm Golden Teak Click Resilient Vinyl Handscraped: Bought this floor after considering many options (we have two dogs). What sold me was ease of installation, its good looks, the 50 year warranty and ease of cleaning. I bought this floor (600+ sq. ft.) from the guys in Holly Hill, FL. Great group over there. Brought the floor home and being a retired contractor who has put together hundreds of floors, I did a quick read on the instructions and started putting the floor together. After a row or two, I personally thought it a bit difficult to put together via the suggested method, so I called on my experience and decided to do it a different way.

Of the many floors I have put together over the years, quite a few were cheap 5-6 mm laminate floors purchased by customers. They usually leave a lot to be desired in the “click and lock” department. Not so with this floor. I did however find it easier to lock the ends together and insert a whole row at a time, using a tapping block to assist in seating the pieces together. This floor is heavy, strong vinyl and the ends lock tight and stay there. I had to butt this floor up to a Pergo laminate floor that was already in our kitchen and breakfast room. The living room is 22' x 17' and I was able to lay out the pieces for each row, lock the ends, make the cut for the last piece and then just slide along and lift each portion of the new row and insert the tongue into the groove of the previous row. I then used a tapping block made from a cut piece and was able to simply seat the row in when necessary, though the tongue usually fit quite nicely and did not require a tapping block all the time. This floor is super easy to cut. Simply score it with a utility knife and snap it off. I did not have one piece that didn't break perfectly on the score line. For lengthwise cuts, use a long straight edge, score it and snap it by hand. If the cut is too narrow to get a good grip, just grab a pair of pliers and bend it on the score line, following right down the piece and it works great.

It's a nice alternative to wood

Comments about Tranquility  5mm Golden Teak Click Resilient Vinyl Handscraped: The Good:(which by the way far outweighs the bad)

I recently installed this product in my home office ,large hallway and Den. This is my first experience with vinyl click together flooring and after you get the hang of it it's pretty easy to install. I can tell you that the floor itself is pretty much bullet proof (at least when it's new for sure), dropped a hammer off my ladder onto the new floor and no mark ,no scuff,no dent, nothing! The flooring looks really nice upon completion.

The not so Good or at least things to think about

1. Let's face it there is going to be a trade off for using a Vinyl product that is made to look like something else. I really don't think anybody is going to walk into my home and mistake this product for hardwood floors.

2. The finish on this product is sort of a satin type look, if your looking for something high gloss this isn't it. The floor looks very nice when it's very clean(as it should be anyway)

3. There will be some planks in your installation that just don't want to stay together, I think I read in the product documentation that anything below 5% is not considered defective. There will be some fine tuning after your installation , just count on it !

Over all this seems to be a great product, after reading some of the reviews here and other forums I'm somewhat skeptical of the 50 year warranty and what it actually covers and under what circumstances.. that being said this product installs easily and is easy to remove if it doesn't work out , certainly looks better , is cheaper and will last longer than carpet, kind of hard to go wrong !

Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Q: How waterproof is this flooring. We have a dog that sometimes pees on the floor and we do not find it for a week or so. Also have an infant that could spill liquids on their and it would sit until it dries up.
Asked on 2/27/2015 by boatenstaff from vegas

A: Vinyl is largely unaffected by moisture. Only major flooding can affect it's dimensional integrity. Urine however is a caustic and should be towel clean as soon as possible.
